Prof. Joseph Hobbs, Director of Vietnam Institute, University of Missouri and Prof. Pham Van Cu, Deputy Director, Research Center for Remote Sensing and GIS Application, VNU College of Science were invited lecturers.

Participating in the training workshop were about 100 people, most of them being young scientists, undergraduate and graduate students from VNU colleges and other universities.

In his opening speech, Dr. Trinh Ngoc Thach, Director, VNU Organization-Personnel Department emphasized that having articles published in international journals is one of the ways for Vietnamese scientists to integrate into the world’s scientific community. However, to do that requires Vietnamese scientists not only to have good knowledge, but also writing skills.

At the workshop, Prof. Joseph Hobbs gave a lecture on some basic issues in writing a scientific article such as: the necessity of international publication, selection of journals, structures of an article, writing and citing skills, impact factors…

At the end of the lecture was the discussion which provide young scientists and students with an opportunity to exchange with their lecturers how to make researches on social sciences with Vietnamese features to be published in international journals, ways of counting points and specialized journals in Vietnam…
