A delegation of Science, Technology and Environment Committee of Vietnam National Assembly, lead by Mr. Dang Vu Minh, visited the University of Missouri-Columbia on Friday, April 9th, 2010. With this visit, the delegation would discuss issues of biotechnology at MU for plants, animals, and medicine, especially that of Biosafety and Food Safety in order for them to get information to come to a decision on the bill of genetic modification which will be discussing at the Vietnam National Assembly in the upcoming months. A long with these activities, the delegation also had some short tours visiting some buildings and research centers of the university such as the Agriculture Building, Sears Transformation Facility, Life Sciences Center, Atrium of Life Sciences Center, and so on.

Meeting in the afternoon with the Graduate School and Vietnamese students

In the meeting with Dr. George Justice, Dean of the Graduate School of MU, Mr. Dang Vu Minh, on behalf of the delegation, expressed happiness in having a chance of visiting and co-operation with MU, and gratefulness from Vietnam to MU in its co-operation and help for all of the Vietnamese students who are living and studying here, hoping that this relationship between the Vietnamese government and MU would be much closer.

Dr. Justice, in reply to the Vietnamese delegation’s goodwill and hope, also expressed his gratitude to the visitors and strongly confirmed that he would try to his best to develop the relationship and create the best conditions for the Vietnamese students living and studying here.
