On February 13rd, VSA at University of Missouri – Columbia had a big party to celebrate the Vietnamese New Year. More than 100 people including VSA members and their families, VIG members, and other friends attended the party. We enjoyed a lot of Vietnamese traditional foods, such as Banh Chung, Banh Tet, and Dua mon. We also gave out “Li xi” (lucky money) to kids and sang with karaoke equipment. This was a chance for many VSA’s beautiful voices to present their talents. The party lasted quite long, and after all of our guests left, VSA members were still together to wait for the coming of the first day of the New Year to make wishes and greet to each other.

Organizing Tet party to celebrate Vietnamese New Year has become a VSA’s traditional activity in the last couple years. We enjoy the time to get together to prepare for the party, cooking foods, making Tet decorations, and sharing our memories about Tet in Vietnam.
