Professor Vo Tong Xuan, Dean of the An Giang University in Vietnam, came to US to attend the World Food Prize conference in Des Moines, Iowa in October, 2010.

Thanks to the invitation of Dr. William Meyers, professor of the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics, Prof. Xuan took a long trip to have a conversation with Vietnamese students and his former student, Dr. Henry Nguyen, at University of Missouri.

After sharing his insights on the World Food, particularly in the project supporting the agriculture of African countries, Prof. Xuan talked about contemporary issues and solutions for Vietnam education. He especially paid attention to the question “How to get back to Vietnam to contribute and succeed, given the fact that the apparatus is challenging?”

Then, he encouraged progressive intellectuals to go into education and come back to Vietnam after graduation because it is the most effective effort to develop the country. His enthusiasm inspired all students attending in this conversation.
