Professor Buu presented a seminar on the national goals for increasing soybean production to several soybean scientists at MU for potential cooperation. A memorandum of understanding has been approved to formalize the collaborative relationship between MU and the Institute of Agricultural Science of Southern Vietnam.

Later, Dr. Hai, Professor Buu, Professor Nelson and Cuong Nguyen, a Ph.D. student in Plant Science, visited with individual faculty members and research sites, including the Missouri Innovation Center and Life Science Business Incubator in Columbia where they saw the labs and environment that MU and USDA scientists use to industrialize their ideas. On September 22nd they visited researchers at the Dupont-Solae Company in St. Louis (right) to learn about soybean compounds used in food supplements and industrial products. At Monsanto Company they discussed technology development in soybean and the status of GM crops in Vietnam. A MOU with MU is being developed to formalize the relationship and proposed activities.
