TVI Board members delivered led discussion on different topics that are useful for Vietnamese students including the history and operation of the Vietnam Institute (Dr. Jerry Nelson), introduction of the Asian Affair Center at MU (Mr. Sang Kim), the differences in American culture and Vietnamese culture (Dr. Joe Hobbs) and challenges with international students while studying in the USA (Dr. Mark Morgan). Several current students and alumni also participated to share their experiences of studying and living in Columbia. At the end, the Q&A part gave students and orienteers opportunity to discussd smaller topics such as making friends in the USA, improving communication skills, working in a team project, managing time, building networks and doing research. The orientation was a great success and very helpful for the new students.
